The University of Bergen alsoforms part of a global network of students, researchers and academicinstitutions. The University is a meeting place and a gateway to othersources of expertise, local, national and international. Our focus oninternational relations since the mid-eighties has profiled theUniversity of Bergen as an international university in Norway, in linewith the traditions of the city.
What is UiB Alumni?
UiB Alumni is the official website for the University of Bergen for extending information and networking opportunities to former students of the University, for bringing alumni together and encourage and coordinate their support for the University. It serves as the focus for alumni relations and activities.
UiB Alumni is also an organization within the University whose mission is to foster alumni interest and goodwill in University affairs by encouraging intellectual and emotional ties between members and their University.
Membership is free and open to all former students with a degree from the University of Bergen.
The Netenviron Alumni platform
The University of Bergen was among the first to implement the standardized Netenviron alumni solution. Even though the solution is standardized, design and layout are adapted to the wishes of the customer.
Bjørg Hildeskår, project manager at UiB Alumni says that UofB had been discussing to establish an alumni organization from the early 90ies. In 1999 this intention was recorded. Its goal is to establish an alumni organization which can help the faculties to systematically maintain and develop contact with former students.
- When we set out to find a platform, we got in touch with the institution with the largest and most ancient alumnus organization in Norway, the Norwegian School of Management BI. Through them we were introduced to the Netenviron Alumni Solution.
The Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU), Norwegian School of Management BI and the University of Bergen (UofB) all use the Netenviron University Alumni Solution. Netenviron bring these customers together at regular customer meetings to exchange thoughts and ideas. In these meetings customers discuss future strategies and features. If some have corresponding feature whishes they can split the development cost between them.
Netenviron continually develop new solution and features. These are covered through the license fee.
- We were told by Netenviron reference NTNU that: "There is no real alternative to the Netenviron alumni solution in terms of flexibility. Their innovative solution allows changes to be discussed, executed and implemented without having to wait for the next version."
